Great news! Volkswagen and Audi Australia has given us approval

In recent news, we are proud to announce that our company has achieved Volkswagen and Audi Geko security approval, marking a significant milestone in our capabilities as an automotive solution provider. This approval means that we have met the rigorous standards set by Volkswagen and Audi to ensure the highest level of security for their vehicles.

But what does this mean for you as a Volkswagen or Audi owner? It means that we are now equipped to provide a range of services that were previously only available through authorized dealerships, including component protection removal and key programming.

Component protection removal is a process that allows for the installation of used or new components into a vehicle that was previously equipped with a different component. For example, if a component in your car such as the radio, instrument cluster or engine control unit (ECU) fails, it may need to be replaced. However, if a new component is installed, it may be protected by component protection which means that the component will not function in the vehicle. With our new security approval, we are now able to remove this protection and program the new component to work in your vehicle seamlessly.

Additionally, we are now able to program new keys for your Volkswagen or Audi. If you have lost your key or require a spare, we can program a new key and add it to your vehicle's immobilizer system, allowing the key to start the engine.

Our Volkswagen and Audi Geko security approval has opened up a range of possibilities for our customers, giving them more options for their vehicle servicing needs. We are dedicated to providing high-quality services at affordable prices, without compromising on the safety and security of your vehicle.

In conclusion, our new Volkswagen and Audi Geko security approval means that we are now able to provide component protection removal and key programming services to Volkswagen and Audi owners, offering a more affordable and convenient alternative to authorized dealerships. We are committed to providing the highest level of service and quality to our customers and look forward to helping you with your automotive needs.

Advance Driver Assist System

           Why is ADAS calibration important?

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are becoming increasingly popular in modern vehicles, and for good reason. These systems are designed to enhance the driving experience by providing drivers with additional safety features and advanced technology that can help to prevent accidents and keep passengers safe. However, in order to ensure that these systems are working correctly, it is essential that they be calibrated on a regular basis. In this blog, we will discuss the importance of ADAS calibration and why it is so critical for ensuring the safe and effective operation of these advanced systems.

First, it is important to understand what ADAS calibration is and what it involves. Essentially, ADAS calibration involves aligning the cameras, sensors, and other components of a vehicle's advanced driver assistance systems so that they work together seamlessly and accurately. This process is typically performed by a trained technician using specialized tools and equipment.

There are several reasons why ADAS calibration is so important. For one, these systems rely on precise and accurate data from sensors, cameras, and other components in order to function properly. If the sensors or cameras are misaligned or out of sync, the systems may not work as intended, leading to reduced performance and even potentially dangerous situations on the road.

Additionally, even small changes to the position of sensors or cameras can have a big impact on the performance of ADAS systems. For example, if a camera is slightly out of position, it may not be able to accurately detect obstacles or other vehicles on the road. This could result in the system not functioning properly and not alerting the driver to potential hazards.

Another reason why ADAS calibration is so important is that it ensures that these advanced systems are working as intended, and that they are not introducing new risks to the driving experience. For example, if a system is not calibrated correctly, it may provide false or misleading information to the driver, which could lead to dangerous situations on the road.

In conclusion, ADAS calibration is a critical component of the safe and effective operation of advanced driver assistance systems in modern vehicles. By ensuring that these systems are calibrated correctly, drivers can enjoy the benefits of these advanced technologies while also reducing the risk of accidents and other dangerous situations on the road. So if you have a vehicle equipped with ADAS, make sure to have it calibrated regularly to ensure that these systems are working as intended.

Catalytic converter theft on the rise.

We have seen a huge increase in the area for Cat theft, and we are not talking about pets. Parts of your exhaust system have metals that can be recycled for up to $1000.

What can we do to stop Catalytic Converter theft?

Park somewhere you can hear if someone is attempting to steal it from your car. To remove the cat most cars need it grinded off.

You can also have a shield made to protect you exhaust system. A Catalytic converter shield stops access and will make it harder to steal. We can make up shields in store to fit most vehicles to save your catalytic converter from falling victim to theft.

If you have had this happen to you we would love to hear from you in the comments below.

Car didn,t start this morning?

         Why wont my car start?!?

As winter comes into full swing, people may find their cars are struggling to start. Most common cause is as the weather cools off the chemical reactions in the batteries cells reduce in capacity. So your already degraded battery can no longer start the car. You may find after a jump start it will continue starting throughout the day, as the engine bay warms your battery up, though the next morning you will have the same problem.

Other reasons for being unable to start your car in the morning include your alternator not recharging your battery while your driving. Or a parasitic drain sucking the power out of your battery when it sits over night.

In any case it's best to get it tested so you have trouble free starting throughout winter.

Car Air conditioning

"Why isnt my car's Air Con not working?"

Let me guess. Your cars Air Con has packed it in? It may have slowing stopped being efficient or suddenly have stopped.

Your cars A/C system is very complex, using mechanical, auto electrical and refrigerant gas to achieve cold air. Firstly I'll dive into a few common symptoms and causes.

          A/C suddenly stopped working.

Electrical fault (compressor coil, relay, fuse, pressure or temp sensors/switch)

Compressor failure or loss of drive belt.

Sudden loss of refrigerant. (major a/c leak)

A/C Slowly stopped cooling or no longer cools on a hot day. Also takes longer to cool cabin down.

            Slow leak in refrigerant

            Condenser fan failure

A/C system blockage (TX valve, condenser or receiver drier)

While some of these faults can be expensive if not diagnosed or repaired effectively, most of them can be quick, cheap and simple to fix.

We offer a free a/c check. Because with full knowledge of the A/C system, you can easily and quickly pinpoint faults. I generally start this procedure by checking the Air Conditioning gas levels and pressures, this isolates electrical, mechanical and gas faults. From here we determine to check electrical circuits, a/c leaks or mechanical faults.

For A/c leaks, we look for oil stains on components or UV dye (if in the system).

For Refrigerant blockages we measure temps at key points to determine the faulty component.

For electrical we check supplies and wiring diagrams to isolate and repair the fault.

For mechanical faults we visually and physically inspect components. (These can be caused by "dodgy regas repairers" using LPG instead of refrigerant, which voids manufacture warranty and being a solvent will damage the internal components of your A/C system. Be very wary of a "CHEAP" regas!!!)

So next time your Air conditioning doesn't seem to be cooling, don't freak out. It could be as easy as a $121 Air Con regas, a $18 relay or a 10c Fuse.

Purchasing a Used Car?

Are you asking your self "which car should I buy?"

From day to day I get asked this question time and time again. "I am in the market for a Used Car, what cars are best and where can I buy?" For years my answer was always the same. Stick to Japanese and you cant go wrong. But as I get older and technologies advance, its hard to pick one brand or model over another. Sure some cars will come with more expensive servicing and maintenance, justified by comfort, brand or style.

Today I spoke with a friend of mine

           Jim

from Tony Lahood Motors. A Used Car Guru who has been in the industry since 1985. So I asked Jim the question "what's the best car second hand". His response was not what i was expecting, but upon second thought, made more sense then any other reason you would buy a car for.

"Find a car that you are comfortable to drive in, an extension of you. A car that you find has good vision and will do the job you intend to use it for (people mover, commuter, 4wd, ute ect)." He went on to continue, "A vehicle you find easy to drive and comfortable you will be safer in and less likely to be the cause of an accident. You will also find you keep the car longer too."

Well I thought... I guess your behind the steering wheel every day, and at a mechanic shop once a year... don't ask your mechanic what he likes, Your the one driving the car, get something comfortable.

There you have it folks, the answer, drive a few different models. Don't worry about what others think and choose the best fit for you. Hope this Helps

I have seen a three Holden Cruze cars in the past week with engine ECU faults. Symptoms generally are, crank no fire, car not starting, no trouble codes, no spark pulse to coil, eprom failure trouble codes and no injection pulse. These faults were across three vehicles and not all on the same car.

The solution? Although most Cruze owners dont want to hear it, a replacement ECU. In these cases we used new ECU replacements from Suttons Holden and the cost on the older model was around $900-1000 and the newer model was around $730. We then fitted the ECU, Purchased a subscription with ACDelco (GM after market division) and programmed the latest software, adapted the security to work and setup/configured the ECU's settings.

Result? Working and running car. If you are experiencing a Holden Cruze not starting, its best to get it check at a service center that can replace and program to Holden Specifications. Let us know below if you have come across this or you have a Cruze giving you grief.
